The stones: Amazonite
Published the 19.08.2018The stones: Amazonite
Amazonite is a mineral. It is also called Amazonia stone because the first stones of this particular green were found in the riverbed of the Amazon River. At these first findings, Amazonian deposits in the area were not discovered. Most likely they had simply been transported by the river from the mountains of origin.
It is a mineral that can be considered quite rare. It has always been mined inside granite rocks, mostly in Russia. Recently a new variety has been discovered in Colorado. There are also small deposits in Brazil and Madagascar.
Amazonite is very fragile and easily fractured, even though it is very used also for the creation of jewels, because its particular color once worked is really beautiful.
There are findings of Amazonite that place it in Egypt at the time of the great pharaohs, fue met in the tomb of Tutankamon. It is believed that part of the book of the dead was engraved on this mineral and even that part of the armor of mose was in Amazonite.
It is a very useful mineral to always keep with you to relieve stress and energize your body. Helps to overcome situations of verbal confrontation as it inspires self-confidence. Suffice it to say that his name not only recalls the Amazon but also inevitably makes us think of the legendary Amazons, strong and powerful warriors.
Many people choose to wear it in the form of a small pendant in order to have it always in contact with their body as it is a mineral that protects against the radiation of household appliances and mobile phones. It also helps to prevent hair loss and is essential for the fragility of the nails.
The high potassium content of Amazonite also helps physical endurance, memory as well as bad habits (alcohol or food abuse, passion for gambling).
Of course it can also be worn simply because we like its spectacular sea-green color that reminds us of the sea, the sun and life.
