Filigree: the tradition of the Sardinian Faith

La Fede Sarda is one of the jewels that best represents the Filigrana culture in Sardinia. It is essentially the first jewel that comes to mind when it comes to Sardinian Filigree.

Born as a wedding ring but also contains other meanings, both historical and cultural among the most varied.

Materially the Sardinian Faith is made through the interweaving of very thin metal threads, generally gold or silver, with very small dots also made of metal and masterfully worked by the goldsmith craftsman.

There is not a single model of Sardinian faith that is definitive, because it has always been the imagination of the goldsmith who created it to give it the final shape.

Some of the most recurrent models in the tradition are those called "honeycomb" and "leaflets".

The honeycomb Sardinian rings are generally created with only the intertwining of threads and dots, while those with leaflets as the name itself has leaflets to embellish the figure.

The small spheres that we generally find at the center of the Sardinian Faith symbolize the grains of wheat, that is, those that will have to guarantee prosperity and fertility to the woman who receives it as a gift.

In ancient times the Sardinian Faith was the family jewel that was handed down from mother to daughter on a special occasion, generally that of the birth of the first child.

There is an ancient legend that tells of how the Sardinian Faith was born by the fairies of the forests of Sardinia, known as "janas". We are in full Nuragic age. These fairies lived in caves, the famous "Domus de Janas" and spent their time forging splendid jewels, created by weaving precisely threads of precious metals with stones and corals.

Tradition has it that the Sardinian Faith is worn on the ring finger, whether it is used as a wedding ring or not. This is because in this finger it is said that we have the passage of a vein that always legend wants is the vein of love because it goes directly to the heart.
